Boston College freshman Victoria DiMartino had a break out first year with the Eagles. She was named Freshman of the year by the Atlantic Coast Conference and by Soccer America Magazine. She earned first team all conference honors and second team all-American honors from the NSCAA and she is a finalist for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year award. He performance ranks as the No. 3 story on the New England Soccer News top stories of the year countdown.
In 2008, DiMartino played a vital role for the United States as the Americans finished second in the FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup. DiMartino took home Silver Boot honors as the second-highest goal-scorer in the tournament..
During this summer, she was the leading goal-scorer for the Long Island Fury, which recorded its second Women's Premier Soccer League championship in four years. DiMartino was named a WPSL first-team all star and shared conference player of the year honors with her teammate, defender Alyssa Pember of Long Island.
DiMartino made a big first impression as Boston College (15-2-1, 7-2-1) tied FSU for the top spot in the ACC. DiMartino ranks second in the conference in points (32) and goals (14). She joins sister Gina in becoming the first siblings to earn the ACC Freshman of the Year honors. Gina DiMartino was selected in 2006. He performance helped BC to a quarterfinal in the NCAA tournament.
Vicki DiMartino is the third in a line of soccer sisters. She is following in the footsteps of Tina DiMartino, who plays for the FC Gold Pride in Women's Professional Soccer, and Gina who had another standout season for Boston College. Her younger sister, Rosie, trained with the U.S. Girls Under-14 National Team earlier this year.
