Bryant's Viverito and DeBenedictis
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Three days after a season opening victory against the University of Maine, Bryant's junior goalkeeper Lauren Viverito (Dayton, N.J.) and freshman forward Allison DeBenedictis (Norwell, Mass.) were selected as two of the NEC players of the week,.
Viverito was named NEC co-Defensive Player of the Week, while DeBenedicits was named NEC Rookie of the Week. Viverito and DeBenedictis are the first Bulldogs to receive a weekly honor during the young 2012 campaign. These are also the first weekly honors for each player in their respective careers.
Viverito recorded five saves in Bryant's 2-1 win at Maine, with four of her stops came in a scoreless second half. She shared the award with senior goalkeeper Brianna Butcher from Saint Francis (PA).
DeBenedictis becomes the first NEC Rookie of the Week in 2012 after recording her first collegiate point in the Bulldogs' victory over Maine on Friday. She assisted on junior Shana Follette's (Plymouth, Mass.) marker six minutes into the game evening the score, 1-1. DeBenedictis was one of three freshmen starters for the Bulldogs on Friday.
