Gbandi takes job as Holy Cross assistant
STORRS, Conn. – Chris Gbandi, former assistant director of soccer operations at Connecticut, has been named Assistant Coach at Holy Cross. Gbandi served one season on the sidelines at UConn in 2011, helping to guide the Huskies to the NCAA Quarterfinals and a 19-3-3 record. UConn was ranked No. 1 for four weeks in 2011 and ended the season ranked No. 5 by the NSCAA

Two Huskies go in first round of MLS SuperDraft
KANSAS CITY, Mo.--The University of Connecticut continued a long tradition of MLS draft picks on Thursday as both Andrew Jean-Baptiste and Tony Cascio were taken in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft at the Kansas city Convention Center. Jean-Baptiste was the first defender taken, at No. 8 overall by the Portland Timbers, while Cascio was selected No. 14 by the Colorado Rapids.

That’s what happened at Red Bull Arena Friday in the first game of the Big East Championships.
