Connecticut forward Mamadou Doudou Diouf has been named the New England Soccer News Men's College Player of the Week for the week ending October 21.
Diouf had two goals – his tenth and 11th of the season -- and an assist in the Huskies 4-0 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday night.
Diouf made it 2-0 in the 21st minute with a crisp header from six yards out. Diouf took a hard foul away from the ball a minute earlier and responded with his 10th tally of the season. Stephane Diop sent in the cross from the left side of the box for his third assist of the year.
Flo Liu made it 3-0 with an excellent give-and-go with Diouf on the left side of the box. Liu charged into the box and fired a one-time shot into the lower right corner. The goal was Liu’s second of the season with Diouf earning his second assist of 2012.
Diouf added his second of the night in the 62nd minute, off another well-executed passing sequence, beginning with a cross from Liu at the left side over the back line right to Carlos Alvarez. Alvarez collected in the box and laid a pass back to Diouf, who blasted his shot past the helpless SHU keeper from 10 yards.
