AMHERST , Mass. – A second half goal by Ross Friedman propelled Harvard to a 3-2 win over UMass at Rudd Field on Monday afternoon. The Crimson extended their unbeaten streak against UMass to nine games (8-0-1).

UMass (0-1-1) scored first when Bryan Craft converted a penalty kick in the 19th minute for the 1-0 lead. Tyler Cleverdon was fouled inside the box on an indirect kick which set-up Craft's PK conversion.

The lead stood until Harvard's Scott Prozeller poked home a rebound inside the left post following a Kyle Henderson corner kick with 13 seconds remaining in the first half.

Harvard (2-0-0) tacked on another goal in the 49th minute, as Robert Millock placed a cross pass on the foot of Rogers. Rogers shot the ball just inside the right post, giving the Crimson a 2-1 lead.

In the 71st minute, Friedman extended Harvard’s lead to 3-1 as he netted the first goal of his career. Henderson was credited with his second assist of the afternoon as he crossed a pass from the right, and Friedman headed the ball into the goal.

In the 85th minute, Stuart Amick pulled the Minutemen within one goal, scoring from a shot inside the box that went in off the cross bar.

Austin Harms made one save for Harvard, while the Minutemen’s Shane Curran-Hays made one save.

Harvard will visit Connecticut on Sept. 11 for a 7:30 p.m. game.

UMass plays Saturday at Fairfield (1 PM).
