Vermont goalkeeper Dave Ramada

Vermont senior goalkeeper Dave Ramada is the New England Soccer News Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending August 26.

Ramada backstopped a defense that preserved a slim 1-0 lead over Rhode Island through a shorthanded second half after Catamounts defender Sean Sweeney was ejected 25 seconds before the intermission. Although Ramada made only two of his four saves – on Brett Utley in the 65th minute and Matt Sykes in the 78th – in the final 45 minutes, he and his defenders dominated the penalty area and disrupted the Rhode Island offense, allowing Scott Kisling’s 18th-minute strike to hold up as the game-winner.
