Vermont falls 2-1 to Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. Christine Cesarini and Kemesha Woodfine scored in each half to lead the Quinnipiac Bobcats to a 2-1 victory over visiting Vermont in a non-conference game on Friday.

Cesarini finished off a feed from teammate Shauna Edwards in the 11th minute to give Quinnipiac an early 1-0 lead.

The Bobcats pushed their lead to two when Woodfine came off the bench to score an unassisted tally in the 68th minute.

Vermont junior Ellie Mills ruined the shutout attempt by QU goalkeeper Jillian Kelley. Mills netted her first goal of the season on an unassisted play in the 88th minute.

Morgan Nichols and Ally Ramos split time in the Vermont net and were each credited with one stop. Kelley finished the day with two saves for Quinnipiac.

Vermont falls to 1-4 , while Quinnipiac remains unbeaten at 2-0 .

The Catamounts return to action on September 8 when they host Brown at 1 p.m. at Virtue Field.
