Tickets for soccer going at a premium

Soccer matches in baseball stadiums are selling for higher prices than those in other types of venues this summer according to research done by ticket reseller TiqIq.

The Real Madrid vs AC Milan game at Yankee Stadium of the unique combination of two iconic teams and an iconic venue is making for high demand and a high reseller price. The average ticket priced for those available on TiqIq is $231, , which makes it the priciest of the matches at baseball stadiums this summer.

Even the second exhibition at Yankee Stadium, between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, is selling at a high average, of $128 per ticket on TiqIq.

Cheap seats are prevalent for the AS Roma v. Zaglebie Lubin matchup between the ivied brick walls of Wrigley Field in the first soccer match at Wrigley since 1984. The average ticket price on TiqIq, is $97, making it the least expensive of the soccer-baseball collaborations.

The Polish team Zaglebie Lubin, mostly unheard-of in the States, is the lowest-profile team playing in ballpark exhibitions this summer, and is likely the reason for the cheap price. Tickets through TiqIq they start at $9 well below the cheapest face value price of $30.

Though in the middle of the matches in terms of price at $110, tickets are totally sold out for the Liverpool v. AS Roma game at the Red Sox’ home of Fenway Park. Because of that, Boston sports fans have turned to the secondary resale market en masse and have bought the most secondary tickets of any friendlies in the US this summer according to another ticket reseller, Seat Geek.

Tickets still remain on the secondary market through SeatGeek, starting at $69 for standing room along the First Base Pavilion. The most expensive tickets available are selling for a well-overpriced $1363 in State Street Pavilion Club 9. On TiqIq, tickets start at $85 and top out at $1286.

Unlike the other ballpark friendlies, Liverpool’s game against Toronto FC in the Blue Jay’s home of Rogers Centre features only one international team. Despite that, the match has had no trouble on the secondary market, where tickets average $108. TiqIq has tickets starting at $69 up to $168
