One of the most successful franchises in the North American Soccer League is dropping out of the league. The San Antonio Scorpions have announced that as a result of a sale of Toyota Field to the City of San Antonio and Bexar County, and a subsequent agreement with the San Antonio Spurs, the team will cease operating.

HEMPSTEAD, NY---The old adage is defense wins championships. Not in the North American Soccer League on Sunday night. It was the New York Cosmos offense powered by a hat trick by Gaston Cellerino that gave them a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Fury FC in front of 10,166 fans at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Raul will end his illustrious career by leading the New York Cosmos into Sunday's NASL Championship match against Ottawa Fury FC. In many ways, the New York Cosmos and Ottawa Fury FC could not be more different. But they both have the same mission, one that ends Sunday afternoon on the field at Hofstra University's James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY. They both have their eye on the NASL Championship and the Soccer Bowl Trophy that goes with it.
