Boston City signs Brazilian defender

Boston City FC has signed Brazilian defender Douglas dos Santos Bessa, the team announced Tuesday.

Bessa, 26, who plays right back and on the right side of midfield, started his career with Atletico Mineiro’s junior teams in 2004. Bessa played for Atletico Itapemirim last year.

“Douglas is a strong right back, who is also a good goal scorer,’ Boston City coach Palhinha said. “He supports the attack well and is a player with a lot of physical strength, who will fit perfectly into our style of play.”

Bessa has also played for Minas Boca, Valeriodoce, Rio Branco (Espirito Santo) and Democrata.

The Boston City back line signings include All-NPSL center back Gabriel De Souza, plus Ralph Angrand, Filipe Dutra and newcomer Jadson Leite.
