Beat Mutiny 2-1 in playoff

NORTH READING, Mass.---The Boston Aztez defeated cross state rival New England Mutiny Reserves 2-1 in overtime in a WPSL East=Semi Final game at North Reading High School.

Aztec opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Greta Samuelsdottir rang a shot off the near post which rebounded to the front on the net. Kylie Strom finished the rebound past diving Mutiny goalkeeper Steph Gordon.

The Mutiny tied the game in the 64th minute, when a cross served deep to the back post. Aztec goalkeeper Erin Quinlan backpedaled and stretched for the ball but could not come down with it cleanly. Lisa Marie Tarchini finished to tie the game.

In the 118th minute, the Aztec earned a corner kick. Dana Bergstrom drove the in-swinging cross. Samuelsdottir went up between two defenders and redirected the ball down into the goal for the game winner.

With the win the Aztec move on to the WPSL East finals for the third straight year. East Finals time and location will be announced later today.
