Revs prep for transfer window
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has made a series of roster moves as the International Transfer Window opens today. With the following transactions, the Revolution’s active roster stands at 27 today, and will move to 25 players on July 1.
The Revolution activated midfielder Sainey Nyassi from the disabled list, waived central defender John Lozano and declined the July 1 contract options due of forward Bjorn Runstrom and midfielder Jeremiah White.
Nyassi, 23, suffered a right hamstring strain on February 10 in a preseason scrimmage against Boston College at Gillette Stadium. He was placed on the Disabled List on March 7 and missed the first 15 MLS matches while he continued to rehab. Recently, he made three appearances in the MLS Reserve League, scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win against the Columbus reserves on June 17, and picking up an assist against Toronto’s reserves on June 23.
Lozano, 27, made two starts with the Revolution after signing with the club on loan on January 9, 2012, from Colombia’s America de Cali. The Guacari, Colombia, native also made six starts in MLS Reserve League action.
Runstrom, 28, made three substitute appearances with the Revolution after signing with the club on March 28, 2012, on a free transfer. A native of Stockholm, Sweden, he also made two appearances in the MLS Reserve League, with one start.
White, 30, made two substitute appearances with the Revs after signing with the club on March 9, 2012. The Lansdowne, Pa., product also made five starts in MLS Reserve action.
