FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen underwent surgery to correct chronic shoulder instability on Monday, and will miss the remainder of the 2012 season. Recovery is expected to take approximately four months.
Head team physician Dr. Scott Martin performed a Latarjet procedure on Nguyen at the Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center in Foxborough.
Nguyen was the only player on the Revs to appear in all 30 games played so far this season. He scored five goals and added two assists in 27 starts. Nguyen joined the Revolution on March 2, 2012, through the Waiver Draft after being released by Vancouver. He was the MLS Player of the Week for Week 10 following a two-goal, one assist performance in a 4-1 Revs win against his former team.
