Gulati re-elected as U.S. Soccer prez

Sunil Gulati was re-elected to a second four-year term as U.S. Soccer president.

NEW ORLEANS -- In an election result that should not surprise anyone, Sunil Gulati unanimously was re-elected to a second four-year term as president of U.S. Soccer.

The election took place Saturday at the U.S. Soccer's annual general meeting.

Gulati succeeded Bob Contiguglia as president in March 2006.

A long-time key worker of U.S. Soccere, Gulati is a member of the economic department at Columbia University.

He heads the U.S.'s bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022 and is also President of the New England Revolution.

Gulati also was a U.S. Soccer vice president and chief international officer of the organization.
