Needing just a draw to advance to the knockout rounds, Switzerland instead picked up a victory against 2002 semifinalists South Korea on Thursday, beating the Asian side 2-0 and knocking them out of the World Cup.

Back after an absence of 12 years, Switzerland certainly has some motivation to do well at Germany 2006. One of course, is the pride involved and playing as well as possible, especially when the World Cup is hosted by your neighbors, Germany. The other is about moving ahead toward Euro 2008, which the Swiss will co-host with Austria.
